American Film Institute to Release List of 100 Greatest Movie Scenes Where You Can't Believe the Actress Got Naked |
Hollywood - The American Film Institute, or AFI, the organization responsible for such famed lists as 100 Greatest Movies of All Time and 100 Greatest Movie Quotes of All Time, announced they will be releasing a list of 100 Greatest Movie Scenes Where You Can't Believe the Actress Got Naked, Underneath Hollywood has learned.
"We're hoping to reach a lot of young male movie fans, who we all know like a little sex appeal thrown in with their cinema," said AFI Spokesman Randolph Presley. Mr. Presley added that the list was largely compiled based on the amount of surprise one would have if they asked their friend, who had just seen a movie, if such-and-such actress got naked, and the friend replied, "Yes."
Some family groups, however, have admonished the Institute for celebrating nudity. "It's horrible," said Tina Law, Executive Director of Families for a Wholesome Tomorrow. "For the once respected AFI to act as a conduit between children and smutty movies is disgraceful and their Board should get together and strongly reconsider their decision to release the list."

"We, as film aficionados, cannot deny the fact that a big part of the movie experience is sexuality," Mr. Presley said. "Just like you go see some movies because you want to laugh, you go see some movies because you are hoping to see a lady you find attractive without any clothes. It may be crude, but it's a fact of the movie business, a fact we should celebrate."
The entire list won't be revealed for another two months, but Mr. Presley has announced a few scenes that made the cut. "Christina Ricci in Prozac Nation is one of my personal favorites," he said. "She's sitting on the bed completely naked and some older woman enters the room and acts like she's fully clothed. Who was that older lady by the way? Her Mom? Who knows, all I can remember is Christina Ricci was naked!"
Other scenes include Meg Ryan's sexual romp in In the Cut, Halley Berry's topless scene in Swordfish, Reese Witherspoon also going without a shirt in Twilight and Katie Holmes' topless scene with Greg Kinnear in The Gift.
Mr. Presley says all of the above examples illustrate what they were looking for when compiling the list. "Can you imagine going to see The Gift on opening night," he said. "You would think to yourself, 'No way is Katie Holmes going to get naked.' Then bam, a few minutes later she's as topless as can be up there on that 80-foot screen and you're sitting there wishing you could immediately call your friends and tell them the news, even though you knew they wouldn't believe you. That's a great feeling." |
